CANFOR Beehive Burner Demolition Announcement and Video
The CANFOR beehive burner was officially closed down on April 5, 2007. Wood residue formerly burned is now being used to produce stove pellets for overseas markts and to fuel a clean energy system. All metal from the burner system was recycled.
With the closure of the CANFOR burner and the PIR burner in July 2005, four operating burners remain in the the BLVD Airshed. The Houston Forest Products burner is scheduled to close by December 31, 2007. The three remaining burners are Tier 2 - Decker Lake, Babine Forest Products, and Cheslatta Forest Products. There are no posted closure dates for these burners at this time.
